About

St Andrew's Church, also known as the City Church, or the Scots' Church, is situated in central Buenos Aires. It was built between 1894 and 1896 but in 1950 the tower was taken down to allow for the widening of Avenida Belgrano. It has a number of memorials to ex-pats who settled in Argentina as well as a memorial to the Fallen of the First World War. The church also has a special memorial to Field Marshal Haig.

Rutland and The Battle of the Somme

More than 90 Rutland soldiers died in the Battle of the Somme which lasted from 1 July 1916 until the middle of November. Today they lie in cemeteries across the old battlefield in northern France or are remembered among the 72,000 names on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme. By using our interactive map, you can find out what happened to them.
